Just got my hands on this video clip of India’s Shaurya tactical nuclear capable missile — this is extended footage of its first test exactly two years ago on November 12, 2008. The clip that DRDO released in 2008 was very short. This adds a minute-and-a-half.
MORE: I took this cell-cam vid of the Shaurya at DefExpo earlier this year.
first stage to second stage seperation is good. the missile virtually stops !!!
IS IT INDUCTED????????? ELSE WHEN TO???? DOES ANYONE KNOW IT SEEMS TO BE HIGHLY SPECULATED………
i wonder while we hear of numerous tests of the agni, prithvi, brahmos missiles.. why haven't there been more tests of this missile – tactical nuclear one at that..?
Nice sonic boom at 1.04-1.06. For god's sake test this and have it ready for abdul and general tso chicken. Both need it like a bad colonoscopy.
I totally agree with Shubham.
Where is the missile gone after this test?
Did the Russians pass all the tech under the garb of Brahmos "joint development"?
Its the most advanced missile in India's arsenal. Not ballistic nor cruise but it has capabilities of both.
zippy
Shourya is a Hypersonic Boost Glide Missile with Boost glide re-entry vehicle.
Its range is
750 km @ 1000 kg FBF warhead
1900 km @ 180 kg FBF warhead
It is a beautiful tactical Hypersonic missile.
Agni II (AT) is also a new missile with Boost glide reentry vehicle.
The best part is both missiles cannot be intercepted. DRDO brilliant job done. US is also working some same kind of tech under a program named Prompt global strike.
hi shiv,
I need your permission to download this video and add some introduction regarding range and payload and re upload on my youtube site. Is it ok with you?
To Shubham & Rajat: The Shaurya is indeed being further developed by the DRDO as a fully cannistered road-mobile n-tipped tactical ballistic missile, which will confer it with unique advantages of the type not possible at the moment with either the Prithvi SSBM battlefield support missile or the Agni-1. BROADSWORD had last year mentioned that work is already in progress on developing a family of cannistered (like that of the BrahMos MRCM) n-tipped ballistic missiles.
Hmmm… I think the Russian Bulava program must have taken few tips from this Shourya video in order to obtain recent successes. Lol…
speedy, fast, very fast, need more of this kind
So Shaurya is a cruise missile with a ramjet as its 2nd stage engine? At least such configuration is visible in this DRDO clip. Apparently Shaurya is a BrahMos derivative. Unless someone has confused videos. ;]

Shaurya seems extremely similar to the Russian Iskander. Wonder if it is a lift! or one of those clandestine ventures. What's your take?
