There’ve been a series of test firings of the army and air force versions of India’s Akash SAM these last couple of weeks. Dug up some of this archival footage from tests a few years ago, which also show ripple firing and salvo tests similar to the ones happening currently.
Hey, please go ahead and find something out regarding the LPD/LHD project instead! I found some content regarding it on the internet but mostly it was unreliable. Also long time since you posted anything regarding the AMCA or FGFA.
great… hats off for missile scientists… Wonder if other institutes take some lessons.
Thanks Shiv. That was pretty cool!!
Of course other institutes are learning – how to reinvent the wheel and then we can call it an INdian wheel. In some case they invent a square wheel and perfect it for 30 years and say that its almost circular but we will wait for advances in technology so that the wheel is perfect !
BEAUtiful….Akash 2 should be of 50 Km Range and should have altitude of 10Km
why u r posting this old you tube video?
The Lakshya's max speed is 0.65 mach. When can we see real interception velocities?
Shiv , do you have any info on the failed tests … heard 50% of the test were a dud… either the rajendra radar failed to pick up the targets and few akashs fell out from the sky just like that ???
DODO is still beating this dead horse. At least they never give up as long as the tax payer money is still flowing in.
Half of these sets are rigged just to announce a "success" even if they are FAR OFF from actual military use benchmark.
What about interception capabiulities against incoming ballistic missiles. That is what it is supposed to protect our cities and strategic installations from
@anon11:47 This is why tests are done. We test to find and iron out problems. If couple of earlier tests were not successful while the tests conducted now are successful then its good progress. This might even be the reason of couple of earlier missiles missing as they might be testing New targeting algorithm.
Yeah aakash missile is one of our main Missile shield. One must show some respect to DRDO and its achievements. If we are helpless and lack of technology then how our country will be Super Power. So we must respect the scientists those who made india proud and finally thanks to Shivaroor Bro for posting interesting topic daily..
JAI HIND
Akash should be tested on a higher mach Mach 1.1+ targets. Shiv do you have a video for that?
has it occurred to readers that hongniao/babur GLCM are subsonic and any attacking aircraft attempting to release PGM/J-series/dumb bombs from within the akash bubble (25km) would also have to be subsonic as I think only few a/c like Mig25 can release A2G bomb in supersonic mode from high alt?
as such these tests against 600-700kmph targets look designed to simulate such realistic targets Akash is likely to phase, not some pie-in-sky mach3 lo-lo-lo XB70-mkibunder plane
and it leaks through, the dual missiles of Spyder will still catch such targets.
So KVR, genius extrodinaire, what do you propose we do about the wheel problem?
I suppose we can use your sniggers and sarcasm to roll the country along eh?
And I bet you wouldn't have a clue about the complexities of designing and manufacturing a wheel. Heard of Momo and Marchesini? Nope, I bet not. Why bother, knowledge is overrated anyway.
In the same vein, you probably know even less about SAMs, their roles, and their challenges. So do everybody a favor and keep your genius to yourself
Ignorance is normal and natural, but please don't make a spectacle of yourself.
I think This is old video…
According to the story in today's New Indian Express, the testS were a failure as it failed to hit the target object.
