Shivalik-class Frigate Weapons & Sensors

Found this illustration in the latest issue of Indian Military Review magazine. Been getting lots of questions about the kit on board the Project 17 stealth frigates.

  1. paki 8:12 and 8:23 PM, you master china may have more frigates but none like shivalik. it is much more capable than any chinese ships and your entire obsolete junk ships donated by your chinese master.

  2. china wishes it had a frigate half as good as this one. The floating rust buckets like 053 /054 are a joke compared to talwars and shivaliks. Wait for P-17a and china will be shitting bricks forget porkistan.

  3. The trend is towards stealth frigates and cruisers that pack a huge firepower. But all these cannot compare with submarines which are the ultimate weapons of the navy. Power projection can be done with frigates but when a submarine lurks beneath then all the firepower has to be concentrated to detect and destroy it. That is why all new ships are being built with anti-submarine warfare capability. The next step must be to beef submarine capability.

  4. Awesome frigate ……packs a punch…as far as no torpedoes r concerned..the Kulb missile variant can be used in anti submarine role…all in all great weapon system by India

  5. @Anon 2:09,
The Shiwalik weighs in at 4600 tonnes and the Oliver Hazard is 4100 tonnes(long),so what are you talking about?
The Klub Missile 91RE2 variant has a torpedo warhead for anti-submarine capability.
