All the aircraft that are vying to win the India fighter deal are more or less at par with each other. Flight trials would be preceded by evaluation of bids submitted by the vendors. it remains to be seen whether the IAF would stick to its previous requirement of a 20-25 tonned aircraft prob. asingle engined one like the Gripen NG or the F-16IN with AESA radars. Since they have already stated that they dont want an airforce which is top heavy (they are going to operate 230 SU-30MKI’s )they may also like to have a look at the Su-35BM before they settle for the Eurofighter or any other aircraft.Political issues would burden any sort of military alliance with the Americans. Provided all is well IAF should rather avoid the SH’s and the Falcons if they get something which is better. It is the time factor which would be crucial Transport and reconnaisance aircraft are no more any critical issues. The MMRCA contract would mean a joint venture or a collaboration for the next 15-20 years unless there are hurdles where the yanks are highly unreliable.
Please dont even include Sukhoi – Russians are taking us for a ride, if we dont realize it now, we will never realize it.
Rafale is my choice. So much more aerodynamic and stealthy than the other contenders. Arguably the newest designed craft. Pretty low RCS and has a naval variant also. Politically neutral. Its only negatives are the high cost of ownership.
“Developing” an RFP – a paper exercise has taken close to 5 years for IAF which is a major achievement!!!!. Building an LCA design, manufacture, simulation, Flight trials – full envelope certification, new requirements – how DRDO can take 15 years. Real patriots!!!!!!!. Hope somebody is watching this space. let better sense prevail.
THAN WE REVISED OUR REQUIREMENT THAT WE WANT MEDIUM CATEGORTY AIRCRAFT
IF WE ARE GOING TO BUY A AIRCRAFT OUR AIM SHOULD BE NOT ONLY TO REPLACE MIG 21 WE NEED THE TOP END AIRCRAFT WHICH CAN ALSO TAKE CARE OF CHINESE AIR FORCE WHICH IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WHICH ALREADY HAS 400 FLANKERS
SEMI STEALTH OF RAFALE,TYPHOON,F18 HAS BEEN NULLIFIED BY MORE POWERFUL RADAR ON SU 35 WHICH CAN EVEN TAKE CARE OF UPCOMING F 35 AND SU 35BM FITS IN THAT CASE PERFECTLY AND CARRIES MORE MISSILES THAN ANY OTHER FIGHTER IN ONE GO
November????says who?? out of your wits or what?
US is bag the deal no matter what.
if they lose the deal they will claim other side bought civilian fighter jet to evaluation and it will keep going on till they are selected!!
