Looking @ pic 3, one feels Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sureesh Mehta is trying to say to with Cochin Shipyard CMD Commodore M Jeetendran “Look i am the boss, do wat i say !!!” and he in turn turn saying ” I am boss here, mind it!!!” by eye contact, Isn’t it??…
is there any plan to accelarate the costruction by hiring extra ppl from L&T , MDL and other shipyards like gardenreach and goa shipyard,Hindustan shipyard…coz it will scare those ruskies who are trying to force their vintage gorky!
I have one basic doubt, please answer even if you feel it is a dumb question.
In an aircraft carrier, given that deck “length” is at a premium, should the runway not be the longest diagonal possible on the deck? If we need two runways, as is shown in the IAC Vikrant (in the model posted on livefist two posts earlier), they should be parallel to each other and along the longest diagonal, so as to be most efficient, shouldn’t they?
Should the ski-jump not be integrated with the longest diagonal in order to have a larger runway, and thus, the ability to operate as many different types of aircraft as possible?
Mayuresh….The aircraft need to land too….that is why the carriers are designed the way they are. The reason CATOBAR carriers have more space and more operational versatility is that the steam catapult launch of the aircraft reduces the takeoff run of the aircraft…hence aircraft can take off and land simultaneously.

The dry dock looks really small and shallow.
