chalo at least the trooper in the MI-17 has a decent helmet…a welcome change from the WWII tin-tops we normally see…

we have got 6 c-130's rite? what difference does it make in a real war scenario ?

lets not jump to the conclusion that this is a standard issue helmet now guys..i doubt it…sadly…
maybe this trooper borrowed it from the yanks or other 'foreign' troops he had exercise with recently….im sure everyone in his battalion would be after him for it now….:)
maybe there's now also a 'tatkal' scheme for these helmets….sad…

The helmet in discussion is Israeli Orlite helmet. It has been used by Indian Army Paratroopers for many years now.
The standard helmet for infantry is Patka. Patka doesn't look very fancy but it is the only helmet I know which gives frontal protection against AK's 7.62mm round (kevlar helmets only protect against 9mm rounds and sharpnels)…though at the cost of being more heavy.
The IAF is in love with the C-130Js! Word from the inside, from a pilot friend in a tpt sqn. The IAF folks love the reliability of the craft and its man-machine interface. He says they are looking at a lot more than 12, since the replacement for the An-32 is very much a pipe dream and with Russian collaboration, will come with usual baggage.
