  1. hey…shiv why do they mark the cross hair thing on the ground…is that with out that mark they cant bomb…bcoz the pilots dont get these marking in battle field…so me not expert in defence issues…plz tell me wat is help of these marking….

  2. can anyone tell what kind of bomb was dropped. is this a common or advanced type of bomb. what does it check, whether lca can drop bomb or drop advance bomb accurately. congrats to drdo

  3. I am from Chitradurga this is the only place in Karnataka were u get to look land similar to border areas…vast plain lands…this is the only district in Karnataka which produces highest electricity from wind mill…the experts speculate that this district might have mineral resources like uranium and iron ore…there are already sum mining companies working here…this district is famous for bear…u got a sanctuary also…the temperature is high comparing to other districts around 42-45c…and in Karnataka u got similar districts Raichur,Bidar, Kolar and Gulbarga…but all these districts hav huge industries like gold, cement, and dams…most of them hav rivers so in most districts u can find greenery with hot conditions but not in chitradurga…it is also famous for fort…Totally in karntaka v hav 3 test ranges for conducting bomb trials….one in Karwar for naval aviation, one Kolar for artillery and one here… The interesting point is that all these district have high temperature and they all fall in a straight line in map except Karwar…And defence institution like ISRO, DRDO, IISc hav totally bought 10,000acres of land…ISRO for telementary station, IISC for worlds 2nd largest synchrotron test facility…DRDO for test range for bomb, Aerostat, and EW system…and land by army for strategic missile command but not sure though…its is an hour drive form Bangalore..approx 120km….
In all Karnataka has approx 5 Districts related to defence
Bangalore for R&D and Airshow (AeroIndia, ISRO etc
Karwar for Aasias largest Naval Base
    Belgaum for Ghatak commando training
Bidar for Air Fore training station
Kolar for test ranges….I feel proud of Karnataka

  4. The markings are already made there so that no one can draw a chalk circle around the pit formed by the bomb. Lol…

A small bomb with Big Bang… Here comes Tejas.

  5. This looks like a diwali bomb to me…

I dont know what it is trying to prove by dropping a diwali bomb after 20-25 yrs of R&D.

DONT WASTE HARD EARNED PEOPLES MONEY IN THE NAME OF R&D

    Regards,
    TAXPAYER

  6. Shiv,

Thanks for the picture and info. But can you please find a picture of Tejas carrying some bombs or missile in its latest avatar. If its new cockpit's picture can be posted then it will be awesome. Thanks in advance!!

  7. Hmmm… 10000 acres… bombing ranges… deposits of uranium nearby…strategic missile command base… perfect place for testing 'small' bombs publicly on the surface and for testing other 'big' bombs quitely below the surface. DRDO you naughty boy!

  8. Must have been a laser guided device. The pictorial view can not be perfect, but if you draw a plan and elevation, it can be ascertained that the center was accurately hit without taxing anyone.

  9. YAR,taxpayer kon si dunia se aaya hai, plane se kabhi diwali ke bomb giraye jate hai…….
AND IF IN YOUR WORDS ITS A DIWALI BOMB THEN HATSOFF TO DRDO FOR THEIR ACCURACY FOR DROPPING A DIWALI BOMB FROM SUCH HEIGHT ….AND THATS SO ACCURATELY………………
    HA HA HA ;;;;;;:-)

  10. I have learnt from various sources that Tejas has enough fuel to fly for 45 mins only. Is this true? If yes then I think this project is totally ridiculous. What would we do with this aircraft?

  11. If you observe the pic closely u can easily detect with naked eye that the bomb failed to hit the target accurately (The post with flag is still there). But whatever may be the case, this is good to start with.

  12. Anonymous 3:50

Ever heard of cp? Even most pgms do not have om cp. Considering this was an unguided practice bomb, the accuracy is astonishing to say the least. Also consider that the bomb weighed only 25kg. For such a light bomb, the deviation is always much larger. So, it was an amazing demonstration of both pilot's skill and lca's capability.

  13. Yup, quite impressive. 3:50 please read up on CEP before posting. Shiv, can you confirm what kinda bomb, guided (laser etc) or unguided? Also, will there be an article looking into the entire testing phase including Goa and the Chitradurga ones. There's so much meat and juice in this, that whoever gets this deep-dive scoop will be the darling of all mil-def followers in India.

  14. Gaur, if the bomb wieghs only 25 kg and it's unguided then I must say Tejas and the entire project team did a commendable job…Tejas fanally has come of age. But can it fly for 45 mins only without refuelling? plz comment on this.
