After signing India up for 29 more MiG-29K deck-based fighters, RAC-MiG chief Mikhail Pogosyan pushed the MiG-35. Pogosyan is understood to have conveyed to the Indian side that with the Indian Navy to finally operate 45 MiG-29Ks — with more options being made available — and with the government spending close to a billion dollars ($964.08-million to be precise) to upgrade the IAF’s 78 MiG-29Bs, he is quoted by sources to have said that it would be “a gamble” to dilute multirole superiority any further. But that’s his job.

Good news
45 is an impressive number.
now
Sorry i am sidelining from the subject
but
i have some important thing to ask
any one has seen the big circle near ozar at nasik?
it's huge with a helipad, a big underground bunker and some big structures.
can any one say What is it for?
here are the co-ordinates
20° 4'32.63"N
73°51'27.10"E
to shiv
he is quoted by sources to have said that it would be "a gamble" to dilute multirole superiority any further. But that's his job.

what does this mean?
i can't understand this,so someone please explain for me.
*LOGICAL* My logics say its far safer and hence better to diversify the weapons, so that if one type fails another backs up…..An all Russian IAF(FGFA+MKI+Mig-35) will be nothing less than a nightmare for air force.
why we buy this mig from russia we already have junk in our backward
we lot of options again stocking all junks jet in place of mig take su
why we are not taking su30 mk11 which was supplied to chines which is more advance in all aspects …?
why not su35 which more potent the present one….?????????? again dependence on Russia ………..i strongly recommend in M-Mrca competition we should take euro typhoon , or f18 another combination rafale and jas 39 are better in my view
Hi Shiv, The Upgrade is for 63 (not 78) Mig 29's, earlier were to be completed by end 2011, but delays as usual….will now be hopefully completed by end 2012, if not 2013 !!!
MIG-35 surely offer new technology with its improved OLS but putting all the eggs in the same basket is not a good idea. I do think that we should go for the Rafale or Eurofighter,no US hardware cause they are unpredictable besides Gripen has lots of US made parts..
Are you sure, IAF has 78 MiGs in service ????
hello shiv…..what about FGFA and MRTA ? it seems no agreement signed for this regard which was supposed to be signed. why no agreement is signed in this regard?
Mig 21 + Mig27+Mig29+Mig29K+Su30mki+ FGFA = enough , this time no to Mig35.
May be Eurofighter / F-18 / Rafale .
why we are not taking su30 mk11 which was supplied to chines which is more advance in all aspects …?
———————————
china has mkk not mk11, well actually there's no such variant as mk11… and mki is the best.

Shiv,
Couple of questions.
1) What percentage of Grippen NG fighter is made with American parts?
ii) MRCA will basically replace the MiG-21, right? So Grippen (or F16) would be the ideal fighter, am I right?
iii) What are the main difference between MiG-35 and Su-30MKI, other than the western avionics? What specialty of MiG-35 will be advantage for India's security?
Thank you.
@ shiv aroor

I donnnnnnt get it, pls make it simple for me to understand
WHAT ABOUT SUB….? ANY ONE PLZ UPDATE
buy 63 rafales and 63 mig35 or mki off the shelf
Sorry for OT.
Shiv this a reminder for your promise which was to post video of LCA-PV 5.
hi, can u tell us abt the probabale mki deal, is there any possibility of it or it's just a rumor, secondly wat do u think abt mig-35 does it makes sense to buy it
Buy 26 MKIs more and 100 Eurofighter Typhoon. That will bring the cost down (instead of 126 Typhoons alone) and you would still have only one new type of plane added.
The problem with Mig-35 is that it does not have enough range. Same as Mig 29 infact, it can takeoff with full load and waste half its fuel just getting up to FL450. No endurance to engage in BVR duels, just a takeoff-shoot-land aircraft.
Instead of buying more Mig 35s, just buy more SU-30MKIs. Yes it is somewhat larger, but the increased capability more than makes up for any additional expenses.
Shiv,
Why do you give publicity to such prattle? Do you have to report what every Tom, Dick and Harry says? Who is this psychological garble supposed to impress or influence?
