On March 24, a team of four pilots from Mauritius will arrive in Bangalore to begin month-long training on the ALH Dhruv. HAL signed a contract with the Mauritian government on February 27 for the sale of one civilian and VVIP transport variant of the helicopter. The country may buy upto two more in the near future sources say. This of course takes the total number of exported Dhruvs to seven (not counting the lease to Israel and the gifts to Nepal). This is a single chopper deal, but it’s still something. Good going. HAL is also in talks with Suriname for the sale of upto three Dhruvs.

this is not simply something ,but it’s infact a big thing…there are 3 more deals to be inked within 3-4 mnths.
The spelling of Surinam does not have an ‘e’ at the end.Its not Suriname, but Surinam, in the last sentence.
both spellings are accepted. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suriname

Arun.
What about the 7 that were exported to Chile?
sudeep, the Dhruv lost out in the chilean deal. the bell 412 won finally. i’m told HAL’s pretty much bagged deals (yet to sign) to supply CASEVAC variant air ambulances to turkey and peru –not sure of the numbers though. they’re officially in talks obviously with a lot of different countries. the main ones include malaysia, thailand, the other south american countries (bolivia – don’t know if two already supplied, brazil, chile again, argentina, uruguay). let’s see how it goes.
i dont understand shiv, sale of one civilian and VVIP transport? u mean one civilian and one VVIP model or one helicopter that can perform 2 distinct functions of transporting both VVIPs and Civilians? Isnt it sounding rather silly?
Shiv, Prasun Sengupta rules out Dhruv sales to Thailand and Malaysia, for ur info.
