The first of eight Boeing Defense P-8I Poseidon maritime reconnaissance aircraft will be handed over today on-site to the Indian Navy today at Boeing Field, Seattle, 10 days ahead of schedule (it was to be handed over on December 31). Flight acceptance tests will ensue in a few weeks. Boeing has said it will deliver the first three aircraft in 2013.
Was at Boeing Field in July to check out the Mission Systems Installation and Checkout facility where the first and second P-8Is had just entered flight test.
The Indian Navy is expected to contract for four more P-8Is, a deal that is likely to be final next year once deliveries begin. Boeing projects total sales of 30 aircraft to India based on discussions.
Someone is delivering on time….finally. Now lets hope that this deal is free of any scandal or so.
I guess you get what you pay for. No delays and fair price upfront so no worries about price hikes. Is that worth a few extra buck?
as the AF n IN go ahead with times procuring world class equipment , the IA is just too happy with the achievements and sacrifices of its forefathers….. blind/shortsighted generals happy with heavy shoulders and filled pockets
Great news, ahead of schedule, both russians and indians should learn from them…
awsome delivery before promised date american's surely know how to do business customer satisfaction…….
I can hear its engines roar… kidding since I live not very far from this place. Good to know that BOEING is continuing to deliver ahead of schedule. I hope Indian navy will make best use of it.
Since it has been supplied 10 days ahead of the schedule, so beware, any further delay shall fall on the shoulders of the Indians.
Dealing with US has so far been an awesome experience. No cost overruns, on time delivery and excellent quality. Dealing with Russians have been the exact opposite. Massive cost overruns, massive delay, shoddy workmanship, equipments fails basic trials, hits snags right after delivery, rubbish quality control, equipments needs frequent overhauling, maintenance is a nightmare, spares supply unreliable…….the list goes on.
common shiv give some news on lca tejas its being too long
