IAF Mirage Crashes, 2nd in 2 Weeks

Photo: Aerospace Safety Magazine

An IAF Mirage 2000TH trainer crashed about 60-km South-East of Jaipur in Western India today. This is the second Mirage to go down since another Mirage 2000TH crashed in Bhind, MP on Feb 24. The pilots in today’s crash — Squadron Leader Raj and Flight Lieutenant Kanav ejected safely. The IAF Mirage fleet won’t fly for the next few days as routine procedures are conducted to check them out.

  1. I smell a conspiracy to malign the good service life of Mirage and Dassault at large..something fishy going on !

  2. HAL Maintenance Rock..Some dumbo might have forgot to put the screw..while he was chatting about some masala movie..and politics..

Soon rafale will also have that same kind of maintenance by HAL.

All the best for rafale and SU30MKI manufactured by HAL….
    hahhahaa…

  3. Shit man!!! Not again..
If this goes on…our Air force will keep depleting… Bad news…
    Mirage 2000TH is super plane.

  4. Why Mirage-2000's have so suddenly started following the path of old Mig-21's. Why can not they have patience for their costlier contracted up-gradation.

The sudden consequential fault again statistically appears to be some maintenance problem.

  5. Awesome. At this rate, by the time the French upgrade comes into play, we will not have any Mirages to upgrade.

So have the French contracted IAF pilots at the back-end to crash the planes, so that they can loot our money without upgrading the Mirages?

Kudos to our pilots too-They really do not discriminate between Russian or European planes, they crash them all.

Wonder what will they start saying against the Mirage now?

Btw-We are one of the top Air Forces in the world, in terms of, hold your breath, peacetime aircraft attrition.

  6. Wow….why is it happening NOW. I think Mirage 2000 BRD technicians are getting a hefty amount from Eurofighter.

  7. these two crashes after rafeal win ….. i suspect some foul play ….. may be foreign hands involved with top brass of iaf

  8. I think IAF should be renamed as a crashing force. We will give our enemy a walkover. No need to buy arms against us & spend money

  9. All other countries are fucxxx asshxxxx, who retire their jets in time. Only we and only we can deliberately risk our pilot’s life for these fuxxin junks.

BTW that junk is now part of deal of more than $3 bils with 10-15 yrs of party time.

So cheers to MOD and companies.

  10. What is fucxx safety track record? If i managed to make only 10 accidents per month as against to my prev record of 13 ax per month.

    Should I be awarded?

  11. calm down people, just becasue a couple of crashes happened in a short time doesn't mean you blame everything under the sun. The Mirage has a very good record even with the 2 crashed over its service life with the IAF. May not see a another crash for several years.

    Cujo

  12. I believe this should be a cause for serious concern to the IAF and Indian public. The Air Chief Marshall and the Defense Ministry owe us some serious explanation, they shouln't be allowed to get off the hook with their customary nonsense they hav been dishing out with the 21 crashes. The Mirage 2000 are India's most expensive and premier fighters. The IAF/HAL needs to do some serious soul searching for their poor quality and pitiful maintainance standards. And if it is pilot error then that too is absolutely unaccaptable. The IAF needs to get their collective heads out of their rear and gets their act together before they waste more lives and taxpayer's money.

  13. Please buy more overrated, overpriced, French garbage. No one wants the Rafale but we do. Well done IAF.

  14. these aircrafts are old….think about. Let me help you: How often do the 25yr old cars break down? and these are delicate flying machines.

  15. A fighter is sure good until its design life runs out assuming there is sufficient design margins built in. Just as with cars, they say your mileage will vary. May be all those Himalayan speed bumps starts to take its tolls.

I never understood the logic of selecting the Rafale. India already has plenty of SU-30. Want a multi role fighter bomber, get a SU-34. It is only $50M, dirt cheap next to Rafale, with a much bigger payload and range. Besides, save on maintenance. SU-34 that would be my 1st choice.

  16. I hate to say this…but time to get RAW,IB, MI (and what not) to look out for any "fishy" thing going on within Air force by any of its personel and also within HAL.

Time for Air force to take responsibility for any more crashes. Pilots are safe (thankfully), but that should not be the end of story. Airforce chief should come with an explanation for this.

  17. Hal,ada are fearing about iaf crash history iaf may crash tejas lsps that's why Hal is not giving lsps7,8 to iaf

  18. ????? ???? ??? ??? ??? ?? ??? ???? ????. ??????? ??? ?? ????????? ???? ?? ?????. ????? ?? ????? ???? ?? ???? ?? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???. ???????? ?? ???????? ?? ??????? ???? ?? ?? ?? ??? ??????????? ??? ?? ??????? ?? ???? ??. ???? ?? ???????? ?? ???? ?? ???? ??. ????? ??? ??? ???? ???? ?? ????, ???? ???? ???? ?? ???? ??, ??? ???? ??? ?????? ????? ???? ?? ???? ??. ???? ???? ??? ???? ?? ????? ???????? ??. ???? ? ???? ?? ???? ?? ?? ? ???? ?? ??? ??.

  19. This calls for induction of Tejas jets.

As per IAF pilots themselves, even in its current form, the Tejas Mk.1 is far better than the Mirage-2000 fleet.

It is paradoxical that IAF flies obsolete MiGs in the hundreds (that can crash anytime), but has ordered only 40 Tejas Mk.1s due to minor issues.

  20. i am going to say what you may never believe:

    — Developed nations are ruled by underground agencies like illuminati which dictate what they do in real world and how they enslave populations

    — they have secret space based and other atmospheric platforms that can elementarily or electronically or mechanically intercept any type of machine using today's technology, although i don't have any concrete proof, i just feel they may be using it, esp britain, to bring down dassauly products. it will just seem like mirages now are as junk as migs.

    — what i have seen with my eyes is a real air/space craft with amazing speed and strangeness, it was a cloudy sky, it was appearing like a flying black polybag from far, when it approached it was standing at a single point rotating on all direction, seemed like a square shape and radiating heat (you could see the heat radiation distortion) when we began pointing fingers, it just rapidly accelerated into nothingness, going in opposite direction and becoming invisible as it had gone too far.

now you will find this as an interesting story, but me and my frnd dont share it fearing we will be called idiots, but we both know how true it was, we feel it was a secret tech controlled by these people. this was above udyog vihar, maruti plant in year 2002, too surprised and too less time to get a camera to click 🙁

  21. Shiv,
Has anyone realized, these two crashes are two seater trainers.

How many two seater trainer Mirage 2000 does the IAF have?

IAF WILL have to procure trainers to maintain the rest of the fleet.

A door has opened for procurment of at least two M2000s, perhaps someone can kick the door open a bit more and order some upgraded Mirages 2000-9s

  22. If such mishaps happen every now and then how many mirage 2000s would remain in service by the time upgrades are over.even a mig 29 has crashed late last year.they should accelerate the LCA mark2 by signing the contract with general electric for 99 engines ASAP.

  23. It is some planned activity to give bad name to mirage or somebody is trying to save 41 millions to upgrade a tired horse.
