An IAF MiG-21 crashed today in the Uttarlai-Barmer sector of Rajasthan. The accident happened during the landing phase of a training sortie. The pilot ejected safely and has reported a technical snag. A court of inquiry has been ordered.
Thank God Flying coffin didn't claim another young life. Shame on IAF Chief Putting brave pilots in this death trap while you fly in Embraer Legacy in luxury.
i think it should be obvious to everyone by now that IAF/GoI is planning to keep these flying coffins in commission until they r all destroyed while flying……i guess its their way of honoring these machines….who were borne to fly and thus should die while flying…..
IAF has more confidence and trust the flying coffins more than the Tejas. ADA, DRDO and HAL can crow all they want about Tejas being a 4th generation fighter, but nobody believes them. If they did, they would have started mass producing Tejas MK1 to replace Mig-21. All the talk about waiting for Tejas Mk2 is to wait for the MMRCA and other foreign fighters. Indians do not believe in Indian stuff. Moreover vested interest and foreign lobbies are out to scuttle all indigenous effort.
Mig-21 were supposed to leave the turf years ago and now none of the early purchases are in the offing and Su-30MKI are replacing the Mig-21. What an irony.
Thank God the pilot ejected safely. But, if the central govt. won't get rid of Mig-21's the straight way, i.e., removing them from action, then it is a good thing they are crashing at such high frequencies.
India is already 20 years behind in procuring its fighter aircraft.
Was that a MiG 21 Bison?

WTF! I am not understanding, why IAF is keeping their pilots in danger by keeping flying this outdated bird in the the air.
IAF should take a serious action onthis issue………

without sufficient basic trainers these are bound to happen.
Now onwards, our pilots should be directed to purchase one basic jet trainer for training purposes before they fly Mig-21.

i m happy that pilot manage to escape
We should pray that the pilot is not charge-sheeted….
Every time a Mig-21 aircraft crashes, 50 crores of tax payer money is lost!
