The first picture is a framegrab from cell-phone footage shot during the devastating collision of the MV Nordlake with the Indian Navy frigate INS Vindhyagiri on January 30. The clip was scooped by Headlines Today reporter Prachi Jatania. The other pictures show damage to the warship following the collision (and yes, they’re upside down :)).
why the hell they keep naval ships in mumbai knowing that its a commercail area not optimized for naval practicises or naval excercises
better move to some other place in western shore
last time a sub hit commercial vessel but why the hell they were exercising in mumbai knowing that its a busy area for commmercial purposes not good for combat practise
and captain of that sub had to leave navy because of court marshal
shiv u need to be careful with the words…. some people just don understand why we are bunnys before a shot gun… but survival of the unpredictable rulez usually as far as we are concerned… so we are doin the job of some … well wat i can say stupid maybe ! m/
i can't believe they couldn't spot each other!! Navy ship is to blame, they have radars and all other high tech gizmos at their disposal!!

1st of all i can't understand why navy decommissioned it's 29 years old INS Vindhyagiri so soon, because our navy has a tradition to retain it's old ships – like our Rajput class destroyers whom they retain for past 30 years & will decommission it's 1st ship only in 2015. Is the made in India tagged ships are of inferior quality? because 1st batch of 2 frigates of Nilgiri class were prematurely decommissioned in late 90s.
Abhinaba whoever told you Vindhyagiri is decomissioned???
Second our ships are not of inferior quality what will happEN to A TVS SCOOTY IF IT IS HIT BY A LORRY OR A CONTAINER TRUCK. IT WILL OBVIOUSLY GET CRUSHED ,BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN SCOOTY IS A BAD VEHICLE-I HOPE U UNDERSTAND
IT IS BETTER FOR THE COUNTRY TO HAVE NAVY IN MUMBAI. HOW DO WE KNOW THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISI'S PLAN TO DRIVE NAVY OUT OF MUMBAI AND HAD HIRED MV NORDLAKE TO HIT A NAVL SHIP ENTERING HARBOUR- I AM INFERING THIS BECAUSE DESPITE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN BOTH THE SHIPS MV NORDLAKE CAME AND HIT VINDHYAGIRI.
OUR COUNTRY SHOULD INVESTIGATE IF IT HAD AN ANGLE OF MARITIME TERRORISM BY ISI
Anon@ 11:43 – That's what I was thinking. One would imagine that a warship or a large cargo ship would have a proximity or path collision sensor/radars (or have I been watching too many episodes of Star Trek?)
