Big day for the Indian Navy and Boeing! The first of eight P-8Is (Tail No. IN 321) will land shortly before noon today at the INS Rajali naval air station in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu (the ‘ARK’ on the aircraft’s tail denotes the place). The second and third aircraft will be delivered in August and November this year, with the final five to arrive across 2014-15. The aircraft is the first that was delivered to the Indian Navy (in Seattle on December 20 last year) and is being flown by a full IN crew.
Had a chance to get up close with the 2nd aircraft in July last during a visit to Boeing’s checkout facility in Seattle. And here’s a quick refresher on the P-8I’s onboard systems.
Like to see this bird flying over bay of bengal and detect those chinese subs and force them move back. If it is done then only money's worth will be served.
When will the first LCA Tejas, Arjun Mk2 or even Rafale will join?
V nd atleast 30 of these to protect our both ends
Is it the best snooping plane in the world.
No we can kick some ass of ching Subs
Sorry! You were wrong. it wasnt Tail No. IN 320 that landed in ARK but 321.
And for the benifit of all viewers & desi reporters who dont seem to be aware of this fact- plz note that it's a standard procedure followed by many OEM/countries wherin the 1st manufactured aircraft stays back for training & progressive testing while the 2nd onwards are delivered. This happened with C-130J & even the Brazilian Embraer AEW but strangely no one seemed to notice.
