More information on the SR-SAM programme from earlier posts:
The partnership began in 2007 as part of the umbrella government-to-government agreement between India and France on missiles.
The ownership of the Maitri programme will be fully Indian. With baseline technologies from the now defunct Trishul SAM programme, the Maitri programme basically envisages the sale of certain key technologies by MBDA to DRDO (seeker, endgame avionics, thrust vector control, propulsion modifications), though production will not be under a corporate joint venture on the lines of BrahMos, but would rather be carried out entirely by Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), India’s state-owned munitions production agency.
The Maitri is being built in two basic variants — a ship-borne point defence and tactical air defence version for the Navy and a land-based self-propelled (wheeled and tracked) launcher-based system for the Air Force and Army.

It looks like the Trishul will be brought out of comma with new components from France!
Mind you it looks like it will have major organs transplant!
french… why should… transfer key… seeker… composite tech… if rafael… didn't win… mmrca… ???…
Looks like time to probe Rafale deal…..
How will this fit with Akash Missile System? Will Akash be more for a longer range and Maitri for point defence short range?
Indian PM? More like puppet in charge
Why….do you….write….posts…like….that?
A good news.
If we go through the list-seeker,endgame avionics, propulsion system etc etc then what is left is the "Tin can" bit of the missile.
It would thus seem that we are now fairly comfortable lobbing warheads at static targets but dynamic targets -akash notwithstanding-are still uncertain.
Technologies of Seeker, Avionics,TVC,Propulsion modifications from MDDA.
What is remaining is Aerodynamics and propulsion itself (barring those modifications which I think is mainly about reducing weight).
This is predominantly a french Missile rather than an Indian one.
But still it is better than fully importing!!.

so drdo can't even make an advanced missile. How long the idea's like "Maitri" are going to work out if our aim is self reliance.I might be sounding like a novice but i think it's a bitter truth for drdo to swallow.Look what Mr saraswat said,"we can not make every thing indegeniously".Great then i don't think that india needs drdo it's a waste of taxpayers money.
Is it just me or its ironical that a lethal weapon is called MAITRI
