| K-152 Nerpa, soon to be christened INS Chakra |
Russia has handed over the K-152 Nerpa Akula-II class nuclear powered attack submarine to the Indian Navy, says RIA Novosti, and confirmed by my sources in the Navy here in Delhi. The submarine, to be christened INS Chakra will sail to India shortly and be commissioned at Visakhapatnam. The submarine will be on lease for a period of 10 years.

I have read somewhere that this submarine is stripped of crucial technology by Russian. Is this true?
so we won't be crossing suez… will it be steered by indian alone… or under the able supervision of russian sailors… how close ins chakra… goes near HK & Shangai… it will be real fun…
Is the crew 100% Indian or do we still pay to have Russian officers onboard in critical posts related to the nuclear reactor?

It is stripped off of Russian Nuclear Missiles which can not be passed to another country under International regulations.

I have heard Russian have increased the acoustic signature of this submarine.
nuclear sub from russia shud be armed with long range icbm with 10000 kms & not 700 kms which will be of grave threat to the indian navy in confrontation with pakistan.
ISRO shud help DRDO in developing long range icbm for all the three Indian forces.
you can post an analysis about the technical sophistication of ATV (arihant)compared to other nuclear subs that are in service around the world?
