these are the sights that makes you proud of INDIAN armed forces instead of the daily share of article stating delays and misuse of funds which is clearly confidence sapping. Btw i think indian navy is the most responsible compared to the other 2 armed branches
Shivalik class and talwar class are the best looking ships in the Indian Navy. I feel there should be at least ten numbers built for each of the two types in order to have some strong power projection.(although, money does matter!)

There are no windows because irregular squarish shapes ruin the stealth quality of the ship. Radars bounce off irregular surfaces so this ship is planar and angular. Angularity ruins the cohesiveness of the radar return which is what you want. See for example the stealth fighter. This ship kicks @$$. Maybe it can be parked in he Bay of Bengal and lob some missiles at our commie Naxalites. And of course Pukistan.
pity it is GE powered atleast develop the "Kabini" core enough to rid us of this dependence. Flip side excellent pragmatic design, what can i say need more than the sanctioned amount pref 4 more make them ships to play merry technological hell with , 4 permanent developmental prototypes.
What a beautiful ship, the Mclaren F1 of he seas! Looks like it was built by artists and not engineers! Let us build at least 30 of these and replace all older vessels of similarish size. IN needs modern ships.
Congratulations to Indian Navy for beautiful planning and execution: Design and Blueprint done by Navy. And then execution done through public private partnership.
Navy is seriously showing our other two branches how to get things done with what we have , within the project deadline.
Great !! Congrats again.
A small observation is that this INS Shivalik still has lot of plane surfaces which according to layman s knowledge is not good for 'radar signature' reduction. May be in future class there will be minimum planar surfaces .
I doubt if we have still have mastered the stealth 'paint' technology (used in B-52) which reduces the radar signature much more?
Congratulations to Inidan Navy. They have shown to others services what can be done when officers are committed to service, not filling their pockets with bribes or stealing land. Inspite of having such a small budget, Navy have managed such a huge undertaking successfully.
If only our Army and Air Force elites were as honest and dedicated as their Naval brothers.
Looks verey sleek. Well its the first one. I am sure the future ones will have more stealth and firpower. What is its radius of action. Indian beauty will be Pakistans beast. May god be with this mean machine in all her endeavours.
hellz yea…
Beauty(wipes tear from eye).

Its called INS Shivalik only after commissioning, not before.
Hi Shiv,
Are there any plans by the Indian Navy to employ integrated masts on their future ships?
Great, what a beauty!
Jai Hind.
Excellent! What a beauty!!! we need more of this in Indian Navy.
Thats right bitches!!
Really lethal Indian beauty, incorporating cutting edge technologies…
Indigenization starts to pay off..
Jai Hind ..

so there's no Kashtan? It looks like there are two gatlings aft (though i might be wrong).
Also looks like its fitted with Barak VLS aft as well, correct?
nice pics
proud of our indigenous weopons
porkis BEWARE
beautiful…. initial pictures published before sea trials looked bad… but this is the way to go.. kudos!!
thx shiv
…but too many things jetting out like radars, sensors etc. it should have a cleaner look like LaFayette or Visby
which missile is being fired in one of the snaps?
Don't worry about the cleaner looks they are on pipline under Project 17A.
"The vessel is expected to incorporate the latest stealth features along the lines of the La Fayette design".

Mast, Jhakas what can I say.We need more of these GREAT.
Well , it certainly does look sleek . But all those protrusions will surely reduce the 'stealth' part? They will still reflect ?

Greatship design.Too few in number
We need atleast 25 of these ships
is the secondary surveillance radar the Revathi or is it the israeli el/m 2238
Will add muscle to IN

It should be armed with Nirbhay cruise missile

Its one of the RBU (ASW) rockets.
