The Express has reported today on the government’s extension to Dr S Prahlada (in photo), Chief Controller at DRDO looking after the crucial functions of services interactions, international cooperation, foreign offices, extra-mural research, intellectual property rights and business development. DRDO chief M Natarajan’s time is also up at the organisation. More on that soon.
Hi Shiv,
In the article ‘The War at DRDO Bhavan’ you had written
“….. Natarajan has called for a peer review committee …..…which had unanimously recommended that extentions should not be given … Those who support Natarajan’s move insist that tenure extensions would discourage growth and freshness in leadership”
Contrary to the argument put forth then by DRDO about “growth and freshness in leadership”, of late Mr Manthiram Natarajan himself has been granting extensions to host of old Scientists. The freshness theory is only for those whom the Chief wants to see Out. I believe about ½ dozen extensions at top levels have been already given in the last 4-5 months and around same number are being processed for granting in the near future. Surprisingly the cabinet committee appears too generous in blindly approving extensions !. Obviously Mr. Natarajan is showering favours on his own chosen people as the last day is nearing.
What a way of bringing growth and freshness in leadership currently practiced by DRDO !
Gangsta cap!
Extension is required in the interest of the nation! otherwise AKASH will go to dogs!
haha.. this photo says it all.
who gave kalaam, prahlada, jayalalitha, their doctorates ?
any views ?
Whatever DRDO does is in the interest of country. Extension is required to preserve the culture of “cutting edge” innovation.
some of the posters here are absolute fools. in the name of innovation, these guys with invaluable experience have to be put out to turf? get out of your frog infested wells, and travel. US univs have a host of old dudes who are continuing to advance the cause of science and research. Russian labs like NIIP and Almaz have 80 year olds still leading design teams. Each of these is considered a national treasure with decades of experience – hard won, practical experience. in india, we turf out capable people at the age of 60-65 and they go onto handle mediocre jobs in the private sector or teach lessons to their grandchildren, its nothing but a criminal waste of human resources.
haha.. this photo says it all.
>> ya about the direction of sunlight, even i did the same at aeroindia, twisted my cap. but even then my face was charred.
Any of you jorno types ever done anything useful in your lives? Big mouths who don’t understand science and technology. Show some respect you fools!
they look idiotic.r
ya, for our internet experts, its looks that matter above all. why didnt you visit aeroindia and see the sunlight for yourself? i was there on thursday, fri and saturday and it was blistering hot. even i and many others tilted our caps the same way and came back ok, while the fashion conscious types were complaining about headache and what not. on another note, the facilities at aeroindia really need to improve to be called worldclass. while the displays were top class the refreshment and restroom facilities were pathetic.
is brahmos chief getting another extension ?
