What are the armaments which the INS CHAKRA will carry….if it is again equipped with the KLUB short range missiles and BRAHMOS than i dnt think it will increase the capacity of the navy any further and will not complete the nuclear triad India is looking for.
Do we have a indegeneous SLBM on the CHAKRA….if yes, then what will be the range of the SLBM?
Mr Aroor, Love your blog. I wanted to know isnt there a way we can have pictures of the IAC being built at cochin. The dock is in plain public sight, can you have someone take daily pics and upload them.. :))
To those who're asking about the INS Chakra's use if it doesn't carry nuclear BMs. well, its meant to be a training platform for the IN. the previous INS Chakra gave the IN its first experience with a nuke sub and this one is meant to raise several hundred sailors who have nuke sub experience and will then go on to man the INS Arihant as well as its 2 follow-on subs.
even without nuke BMs, the INS Chakra will be a formidable submarine hunter. Its ability to stay submerged even longer than conventional subs with AIP capability will mean it can track them down as well. Plus, Akula class nuke subs are known to be very silent. Considering how badly the IN needs submarines, any addition is welcome, and I sincerely hope that there is another Akula sub that will be leased as well. Would be essential as a submarine protector of the Indian Carrier Battle Groups (right now we have just 1 CBG).
Shiv Ji we need pictures of both the Chakra and the Arihant please as soon as you can.
He he he he!
That sounds like a Hollywood movie trailer.
20th century fox presents…

Hi,
Tell us about LCA IOC.
hi shiv
I know that we r getting this INS Chakra possibly on permanent lease.
I have some questions
Q1. India had possibly paid more than $2 billion for construction of 2 nuke subs. We r getting INS cakra, where is the next.
Q2. Will the Russians help us develop facility for this nuke subs maintenance
Q3. Is there a possibility of TOT with this sub
Great picture sir… Awesome PS job… Any updates on the LCH's first flight or Arjun trials???
We need at least a dozen of these beasts. I'd be happier with 2 dozen, but thats like wishing for the moon.
