From Boeing’s statement today: The start of assembly work follows delivery of the plane’s fuselage from teammate Spirit AeroSystems on May 29. Boeing workers have begun installing systems, wires and other small parts onto the fuselage. The P-8I’s engines and wings will be installed later this summer.

Upon induction, this will really be a force multiplier in terms of surveillance of Indian maritime interests.
Great news!!! Would be a great force multiplier for India once we induct these babies! 🙂
Do you know if this is being built in Everette facility or in CA?
this is renton, WA. just outside seattle.
a very wise investment. the p8 has 3x the abilities of the p3 which are quite formidable and still highly classified.
hope the blue package works in our weather conditions!
It is great to learn of the advanced weapons that India is purchasing to modernise its armed forces from all over the world and from domestic sources. Lets also hope we induct in plenty "political will" to use these babies when the appropriate time comes…else they would be of no use. Jai Hind (wishing iron will to India to fight its adversaries- external & internal)
I am really happy by India getting this marvelous system. It will be a great force multiplier and also will safeguard our naval vessels from air and underwater threats.
P8 is a very wise decision and thanks to planners who did not spent our money on purchasing any new Crap RUSSIAN system. Those are really junks. No country has ever won by using russian dud weapons.
It is a great day for Indian navy’s capabilities. India should have signed the CISMOA agreement with the US, which it requires even its closest NATO allies to sign. India should not miss out on any cutting edge equipment and should drop the cold war day’s apprehension about US. US wants to build a true strategic relationship with the largest democracy – India. India needs additional 14-20 P8Is and medium range naval reconnaissance and anti Surface/submarine warfare aircraft to protect its SLOCs and immediate region. Boeing 737 based P8i would be the world’s most capable aircraft of its category, far surpassing the P3Cs of Pakistan’s Navy. These aircraft need to be dispersed to strategic location to survive any sabotage and or air attack in the event of hostilities to still have enough survivable assets
Hi Shiv, Any Update on F-35 offer on MMRCA as lots of news articles appears on the web.
Are you planning for any kind of full insight report on HT or ur blog…
Eagerly awaiting your responce on that…
Regards,
Amit
I don't mean to be negative but this is a brand new aircraft, untested and we are the first international client etc so where is the "8x capabilities of P3C" type euphoria coming from? P3Cs slow and low propellor based design has proved itself for decades. This turbo fan, jet engine based anti sub, maritime patrol aircraft is a radically new design that is unproven. Are we being objective in heaping so much praise on an unproven aircraft? I am thrilled about this induction too but much more cautiously optimistic.
hey at rakshak forum we have some insiders in the US company who are providing us updated information. please Shiv can you post this as well. For instance, the seating and the panels are all coming from india.. This is great news for plastic manufacturing in india.
we should wait and see how these stuff works, i hope all for good perforformance as equal to Americans p8a
thats real good news… we badly need them in the light of increased operational requirements and India's enhanced maritime role. But honestly I am against India signing the agreements. They are very intrusive. The plane is open architecture so we can install Israel or European systems in their place and not compromise on our sovereignty. Well NATO countries might have signed agreements but they have sort of become colonies in some aspects. We don't want that.
Sorry but I can't but point it out. Plastic manufacturing? 64 years after independence and pumping billions into vast network of research labs across the country, we should have actually been developing that plane itself in the country not seats and panels. Just pointing out the irony no offense meant!
P-81 will give India the capability to snoop on the Chinese ports coming up in Myanmar. Sri lanka etc. Indian maritime capability will reach Australia. The readers are forgetting that Once Vikramaditya is introduced along with MIG 29 K, the combination of P81 with the Mig 29 K will be deadly

WHY THERES NOT MUCH POSTING COMING ON YOUR BLOG… FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS?
[email protected]: I'm in the U.S. for a short break, but not offline. Will be blogging more.
OMG ratshakers are happy india is making seats and panels? Must be part of the DODO team.
i am going to upset a lot people with this post.
the CISMOA works both ways for the u.s.a. and india.
that being said there are a majority of people in the u.s. that are glad the f-18 or f-16 didn't win the fighter competion because of tot. they believe any tech that india receives will soon end up in russia then china, then north korea, iran, burma, and pakistan.
trust is a two way street.
@3:41 AM .. only people you would upset are ratshakers. What you say makes sense (from the point of view of arguing against such a transfer). However, practically it wouldnt make much difference since China can get hold of paks planes if they really wanted to.
