The wind-tunnel model of India’s conceptual fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) was on display when IAF chief ACM PV Naik visited the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) on July 16. The model was first displayed during AeroIndia last year.
Hi Shiv,
Is it the same model, what was showed at the Aero-India 2009?
If possible, can you please post details of AMCA with high resolution photos??????
They could have as well gone to the nearest store and picked up a model of R2D2.
Has this photo been pixelated or does someone need to invest in a new camera?
COOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL, although i cnt figure out if its a plane or not.
Shiv, should we use some 3D glass to see the photo?
Picture is of bad quality ,but you can still spot LCA in white
Hey..it is the Raptor mistaken for AMCA. They maybe discussing how to buy Raptor than make one.
what a waste of resources get the damn tejas in full production then let's shift our full resources to another project.
The model showed in Aero-India is MCA. This model you mentioned as AMCA. I read in some articles that that the AMCA a stealthier air-craft as well as a 5th Gen fighter. According to some ADA-HAL Scientists, The model of MCA is not stealthier. So the AMCA will be a new aircraft with new air frame and tech.
So Shiv
If AMCA will be a completely new air-craft then, why they are showing the same model as a AMCA? What is the real difference between between MCA and MACA. How it will be stealthier than the previous one?
OK it is on paper now, they said they will develop it from the experience gained from LCA. Wht experience they have gained, LCA still depending on foreign engine, cant develop a regular engine and now claiming AMCA will have thrust vector. First build an aircraft like Mirage 2000, mig 21,F16 then dream about 5th gen fighter. you guys are wasting public tax money, and full of false promise.By 2010 we should have atleast 100 LCA. see now only they r building prototype vehicles 1,2,3,4,5…. so on. we will end up having 100 prototypes .
They may keep the actual shape in secret for long like T-50. Otherwise Paki may produce it in China.
Ha ha ha……..
Nice comment Ms/Mr. Ra.
Considering both LCA and ALH have half foreign components including engine, radar and weapons but still have major nagging problems, I don't see any hope for this project unless HAL partners up with some foreign firm again like PAK-FA. I expect to still see it in development in 2025 with IAF being forced to buy by the Communist MoD.
If NAL/HAL had any wisdom they'd be partnering up with one of the three-four other nations with prospective 5th-gen fighter programs, like Japan, Korea and Sweden. This way unlike the Russian deal where they'd already decided the design by themselves India can actually participate in development.
The shape of the wing on this aircraft looks too much like the Chinese J-7E's wings. Considering the J-7 design is nearing obsolescence, that's pretty sad if that wing shape is the best India can come up with.
Question is how many foreign vendors will be used and lets hope home content is above 10%. ADA are a joke!
Mark my words Paks will have near 5th Gen before us and it will contain more than 10% local content!!! more importantly it will be more reliable.
@M Patel Pakis and Chinkies already have 100th Gen AC. It's called "flying carpet". Ali Baba and Aladin are extremely fond of flying carpets with no metallic moving objects and 100% stealth.
Shiv,
I like your blog. It really provides a great insight into the workings of are defence structure.
In regards to this post(and many others that provide conceptual models of futuristic weapons), I think DRDO and HAL have really good artists but unfortunately too few men who can realize those concepts. Every time I see one these design, I think the end product would be no where close to that.

Thanx! For providing me with a new name.
I think If we are targeting a secured future Govt should not only focus of developing technology that has been achieved by other but instead it should run parallel programs to develop a new generation of attack vehicles or systems like HAARP or micro vehicles powered by nuclear fuel or using plasma technology to power its vehicle. I think now a safe and secure future lies in an effective planning and implementation of very high level of technology.
The Indian MCA project (now AMCA) is a joint Indo-Russian(MiG) project n NOT a wholly Indian endeavor as made out to be. Here is the Link in suuport of the above:
