The Airbus A330 tanker in IAF livery

A model of the Airbus A330 multirole tanker transport (MRTT) on display. The second and third images are artist’s impressions of an A330 MRTT in IAF livery released by Airbus last month, the first one refuelling a pair of Su-30s.

  1. These are mirror images and hence the livery appears backwards. Flip the pictures horizontally and see. The mistakes were made in the original article in Flight International (dated Feb 2nd).

Should you not have acknowledged that the two images were copied? Just a suggestion!

  2. what is price difference between
    A330MRTT AND IL78

as il78 also carry 130 tons of fuel

v should go for both types of aircraft just to increase number of tankers

  3. if il78 provides 130tons of fuel with older d30 engines then with new ps90a engines it should provide 150 tons of fuel

  4. a comparative analysis with the MRTT of this class shows that airbus design n specifications are best in the class… though it suites indian requirements or not i dunno itz 4 experts lyk u 2 analyze.

  5. A minor correction … the Il-78MKI can transfer ‘only’ up to 105 tons of fuel not 130. The maximum amount of fuel it can carry is limited not only by the type of engines, but by the MTOW which is currently rated at 210 tons.

  6. I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
