The Vikramaditya aircraft carrier will finally set sail for sea trials on May 25. Over the last month, the vessel was unmoored from its quay wall. A team of workers has spent recent days measuring the ship’s magnetic field and a heeling test to check the ship’s centre of gravity for stability. Loaded 24 hours a day with over 1,000 workers, the ship has embarked 30 days of supplies for its all Russian crew who will conduct the sea trials along with the Indian observation team based at Severodvinsk. The ship is to be handed over to the Indian Navy on December 4 this year, Navy Day.

25th May 2012 will be a truly awesome day. This day was long coming and awaited. I just can't wait to see the INS Vikramaditya commisioned and flying high the Indian Tri-Colours.

At last the D-Day is here after a 5 year delay. Better late than never.
Great news for the Navy. It should be at least a Year from now for it to enter Service (considering Builder Trails, user Trails and Certificaion). Once it enters the service along side the INS Arihant and INS Chakra the Chinese and Pakistanis will have lots of sleepless nights.

I HOPE IT IS WEAPONISED…..THERE WERE SOME PROBLEMS ON CABLE WIRES FITTED IN THE CARRIER AND POWERING THE LIFT FOR CARRYNG FIGHTER JET..I HEARD FROM A BLOG/FORUM WHERE COMMENTS WHERE POSTED BY A PERSON WHO IS WORKING AT SEVMASH…AND INVOLVED IN BUILDING INDIA'S CARRIER…….HOPE ALL PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED…THE KING SHALL ARRIVE TO HIS COUNTRY SOON AND SHALL CROWN HIM TO THE INDIAN NAVY
