Sigh. Because that’s really all one can do about Indian artillery procurement. Oh well. After cancelling its last attempt at procuring 180 wheeled self-propelled 155mm artillery systems, the Army has begun the process afresh, sending out a new RFI to prospective vendors. The RFI, which specifies nothing apart from the requirement of a 155mm 45/52cal gun, leaves the door open for systems that could include the Konštrukta SpGH Zuzana 2, Nexter CAESAR, Rheinmetall RWG-52 and BAE-Bofors FH77 BW L52 Archer.
I hope they succeed this time. I think Caesar has the best prospects.
Again? They should just get it over with! I think they should get the Zuzana.
sir, what about m777 …? Is it still to be procured or gone into the bin….?
sir what about m777 ….? It it still to be procured or has it been thrown into dustbin…..?
India doesn't need Pak or China to kill it. Its own weapons will do the job
bikram singh aya ghotala laya.
WIll Rheinmetall be allowed to participate given their (or theor sister concern's) blacklisting?
another westez of gov. time money gov officer takeing process lobbing and army reject guns take boforce gun and weld on the truck ittook like wheeled gun so simple
Hi Shiv..
Archer is a good choice..Proven bofors and it will come up with Excaliber round..a precision munition, compatible to M777 light howitzers also which india already getting now. Please guide whether CAESER falls in the same ground?
Why we can't produce it indigenously. Its been 20 years now, we could have done wonders with so much time.
Get the Archer! as soon as possible!!
Here we go again another contract 155 new committees ending in cancellation, blacklist and DRDO claiming it can make a super gun. With Mr Anthony happy that nothing is being done so that he cannot be blamed for any mistakes.
Is Rheinmetall not banned by MOD?
If localization is also the criteria then BAE-Bofors FH77 BW L52 Archer could stand a chance because of their proposed JV with Mahindra.
Until & unless the howitzzer arrives or locally made there should be no sigh of relief.
What happpened to Bhim ?? I'm not against equipping our Army with the best equipment. But I think that our government has been squandering away large amount of hard earned foreign exchange on purchases which should be avoided simply because we have a indegenious alternative (even if it not that superior).Remember our people live like animals in gulf contries and earn this money. We should value it.
till that Antony is there he would not allow the army to procure the much needed artillery. Antony and artillery are poles apart, may be this guy like the UPA does not care for the country but drowned in total corruption
I joined t5he Regiment of Artillery, when all this modernisation was being talked about, and after more than two decades, bid farewell to arms, with almost no telling change in the Artillery technology in use Modernisation continues to be a pipedream. Hope we succeed this time.
Regards
Bofors dont stand a chanse, the Swedes should not waste money on a hopless case, dont leave an offer.
Go for the Archer.
Caesar FTW… these guys have nailed the competition, check out youtube
I would bid for Caesar..but still I keep my fingers crossed!
