this report is a bunch of BS. Its a denel gun built in India. May be with these kind of news features Tata can fool common man but not people who know what they talk.
so what? if its from denel? TATAs have done it again!!! Hope govt gives clearance. i doubt it because Mr. Ratan Tata doesn't mince words, which ppl in power may not digest!!!
@Pakis crying that it might be inspired/copied from Denel gun.. Who gives a damn? China copy pasted most of the soviet hardware. But can anyone call Chinese power as any inferior for copy pasting? This is the way forward – Just like drugs being manufactured on a large scale in India we need to take steps like these to mass procure military hardware.
It may be Denel made gun. In India which product is indigenous ? Tooth paste to Car almost everything is made by a MNC. BRAHMOS missiles are not Indian. We must go for this Gun as long as it is made in India.
Like many things in india, components are imported from foreign countries and assembled by local firms in india. That doesn't mean it is an indigenous product. The best india can do is rebrand it with an indian name which we already do.
Hi Shiv, thank you for reporting what is made public. This is no fault of your own, but I look at this like the situation a few months back when someone used your work in their mag and didn't credit you until you had a testy exchange with them. For TATA to not tell folks that this is either a cut and paste effort, or that they have bought rights to make the gun and has made a truck to fit the gun… and simply call is indegeneous is like streaching the truth a little. If they has suddenly designed a gun on their own, then I think their statement is valid, but this seems to be a copy, probably a legal licensed copy, but still a copy and they need to let the public know that this is not something they spent R&D efforts designing from ground-up. As always, half truth is still a lie.
so what..now you reverse engineer it and start from where they have left if you want to improve…or pay hefty money to other companies and cry for not developing on India…grow up folks….the same China is doing and a call them super power….why double standards…go for it without delay….bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush
GOD SENT RAY OF HOPE TO THE MOTHERLAND. NOW THE GOVT MUST SUPER FAST TRACK THE TRIALS AND INDUCT IT. EVEN IF 60% OF THE PERFORMANCE OF FH77A ARE MET IT IS ENOUGH. JUST DO IT…..DO IT NOW
Are HAL and other pampered "mother lost at an early age" public sector defense PSU's watching? Those of you who have criticised the product with your comments are no doubts salaried employees and union leaders of these pampered PSU's….Lets assume that your arguments are true….Then if Tata can copy paste from a foreign product, what has forced the PSU's not to do it? Ok, got it, even doing a copy paste requires some fundamental knowledge which the PSU's don't have….
But bad luck Tata….The govt and the Army headquarters, born and brought up on foreign pizzas and the associated sausages which comes as the byproduct of the pizzas will never accept desi curry, however good it may be compared to the pizzas….
We will talk about this after 5 years….By that time everyone will realise that whatever I have said has actually turned out to be true….
Why does it matter if its a Denel design? The OFB has had all the Bofors drawings which they got as a part of ToT. I guess they used the drawings to swat flies. Atleast Tata made good use of the ToT they invested money in.
India requires a couple of thousand artillery pieces may they be from anywhere if from India nothing like it original concept or reversed engineered let us induct them fast the army needs them urgently

Made in India, maybe. Home grown? Unlikely. Had making a howitzer been so easy, there would have been hundreds of players out there.
Irresponsible reporting at best.
