The Army Chief called on Prof Lajuddin Ahmed, the President and also held interactions with the Army, Navy and the Air Chiefs of Bangladesh. The discussions dwelt mainly on the regional security between the two countries. The two countries already have an ongoing military training exchange programme under which significant number of military personnel from the two countries are attending training courses at each other’s military institutions. During the visit, General Deepak Kapoor was briefed in detail on the curricula and shown training facilities at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA); the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) and the National Defence College (NDC).
The Army Chief also had constructive discussions with his counterpart on the issue of India’s North Eastern militant groups using Bangladeshi territory to evade Indian Security Forces and perpetuate terror from there.
While touring Dacca, Comilla, Chittagong and Rangamati, the Indian Army Chief visited various active Army formations of Bangladesh Army and met their commanders and staff. He also paid homage to the Indian World War-II martyrs at Comilla and at the Bangladesh War Memorial.
The mutual interactions and professional engagements of the members of the Indian Army delegation led by Chief of the Army Staff, General Deepak Kapoor, with their Bangladeshi counterparts, are expected to promote professional military ties and further the military to military cooperation between the two countries.
The spelling of Bangladesh in the heading is wrong…it is written Bangaldesh, instead of Bangladesh.
Why r we still begging Bangladesh for restraining militants..send special ops and take out those suckers down..
at least the lame excuse of nuclear war is not there in Bangladesh.
So is Dhaka…the spelling “Dacca” went OUT in 1982
What a pretty picture ! Lots of Chai-Biskoot ! Way to go ! I sincerely hope he’s telling them if you continue try to make those haraams trying to sneak in and create trouble for us and indulge in mortar fire, we will make a jhatka out of those Haraams. It will make a good pig feed.
to anon @ 6:44
you are horribly incorrect
Name one country that neighbours us, which doesnt have a hostile intension towards us.. China? Burma? Pakistan? Nepal?
Thats right, we are surrounded. The Chinks are in control of every country around us. India is trying to buy back Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to her side. Way to go!
Mohan why are you saying ‘horribly incorrect’ to anon at 6.44 pm…it was actually Bangaldesh, instead of Bangladesh…which Shiv has corrected after the comment came in.
(16+)
bangla is just another fuckers pakistan. but i think bangladesh is worse in the sense that they r ungrateful (after we liberated them) and shameless (buying weapons from Pakistan and China; who were together in opposing their independence just some 40 yrs back). India should just set up a special ops and trash all the villagers along the border. It should also quickly complete the demarcation fencing they are building. Once that hoarding is complete, they will be completely cut-off from land access (except for the small area in Myanmar). Then, due to rising sea levels, their landmass will significantly, reduce, causing further overpopulation. To prevent an influx into India (as happeining now), the fence should be electrified and watch towers erected at every 10km interval. Something like the ‘great wall of india’.. haha.. fuck bangla..
hey shiv, y not u post some news on the indian defence scenario (like new developmet of weapons/systems etc) rather than post about our corrupt general visiting some arsehole country for no purpose. We’ve got ToI, Hindu for that. We want ‘inside reports’ from you.
Inside reports from Shiv ??? hahahahaha…..Max, for that Shiv will have to take another birth. For someone who spends all his time on the blog, or on facebook, or in office, how do you think he’ll get inside reports….he ought to go out there, meet like he used to before he joined TV and get the dirt out.
Leave inside stuff, he’s not aware of the everyday routine happenings also of Ministry of Defence!
He covers all beats, except defence…maybe he should change his blog, change its name, and start posting stories on crime, politics etc and also his own photos, whom he is so fond. Narcissist is besotted by his own photos.
don’t be so hard on him. i agree shiv posts a lot of press releases here lately, but let’s face it. many of us love this blog because of the stuff aroor usually puts up here. let’s be fair about that, esp the photos and stuff.
ok…agreed, last anon…but he really needs to pull himself up. The blog is ok as far as presentation is concerned but content-wise, it’s still lacking, and we all come here not to educate ourselves but for a change, to see some photos, or maybe read nasty comments, or just for fun.
Do these people really have constructive discussions, as you have mentioned Shiv? I really have my own doubts
it’s a press release, not shiv’s opinion. deepak kapoor is a two-faced lout who, like ved malik, has become chief through every trick in the book. i hear his wife kirti is a real handful too, and enjoys what they call a “rigged game” at the AWWA. also let’s not forget how deepak kapoor’s son threatened airline staff at delhi airport telling them he would return the next day with 50 army jawans to beat them up. all this when deepak kapoor was vice chief. the cheek! it’s a legacy of corrupt practice and arrogance. jj singh was too much of a fool to realise and make amends so that someone competent could lead the indian army. some coursemates of mine who are still serving tell me about the massive disgruntlement still in Northern Comd as a result of kapoor’s twisted ways.
But I have heard that JJ planted Panag in Northern Command to dig out Deepak’s past so that he couldnt beome Chief and daljit ( a sardar) could become..the sardar net, you see. So everything is manipulated
??
Its time we showed the Bangladeshis a lesson or two. Forget all this tip toeing, diplomatic sh** (excuse my French) its time that we began unilateral covert operations into Bangladesh and took out some terrorist infrastructure. We should not be bending over for the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Jai Hind
Hey shiv,
A while ago, you promised a LCH write up. Did I miss it or have yet to post it?
TIA
I don’t understand our Indian mindset. Why are we perennially enchanted by talks of peace in the face of overwhelming evidence of bangla and porki hands in terrorism?
But the fault is ours. We elect such weak, timid, impotent leaders into power (like the chootiyah Shivraj Patil) that no action from the government can be expected on security matters (or other issues for that matter).
I call for my fellow citizens to use your right to vote and elect leaders with a spine. And I charge the government to act on its mandate to protect its citizens.
I dream of the day when I’ll hear a few bangla or paki villages known to be terror havens, mysteriously going up in smoke and all the hint-hint, wink-wink points to a covert op by India.
i think somebody is holding a grudge against shiv here.. but yes, we want inside reports rather than press releases, which can be found everywhere.
so much fun this blog is and so much entertainment…really…I come here to relax, have fun and de-stress
Moderator on please, and new post also asap
Whatever you say, it is important to have good relationship with you neighbors. Lure them with carrots first, then you always have the option of beating them with a stick..
Bangladesh will never dare to wage a full fledged war against us. Neither can they hope to win even a small skirmish. So why not use them as a friend?
The present “Non-aligned” attitude, though honorable, has cost India dearly. Every foreign relationship that WE dont take to the military/strategic level has be exploited by China or Pakistan. All their negative propaganda has create a lot India-haters around the world. So a few friends wont hurt. Dont mistake that for our weakness.
I have a friend who recently travelled to Bangladesh and said that the image we have of it being a mini-Pakistan and overrun by radicals is completely erroneous. This is a society that is essentially moderate and has no real beef with India. So irresponsible talk of a hard line – note that I am not opposed per se to covert ops to fight terrorism – is based on ignorance and too much time spent on the internet.
