Shiv, You are breaking news after news and quenching our thirst for the much awaited programmes for our defence forces. This is job of a true reporter but i must appreciate very nice first hand pictures & videos on your blog posts. Thanks for the video of Kaveri.
If IAF finds this unsuitable for LCA mark-II,can we use this in some small transport or passenger aircraft , some platform that does not require the t/w ratio as high as LCA. After all successful development of jet engine is no small feat. It takes at least several billion dollars and few decades to come up with a jet engine. Considering the level of experience of GTRE(complete greenhorn), when they started this indeed is a commendable feat.Even nations like china have been pissing in their pants in this matter of developing a jet engine,in spite of their extensive industrial infrastructure , and manufacturing base. CONGRATS GTRE!!
I really appreciate your work on breaking news on defense, I want some technical information as well e.g. what is the current dry and wet thrust, what is its weight and what are its future goals ( with dates).
Of late you are just giving pics/ videos of news items. we are missing old shiv who used to give lot of analysis. hope you'll add that extra which we don't get elsewhere.
NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD HAVE USED THEIR OWN MADE & DEVELOPED FIGHTER ENGINE IN THEIR OWN DEVELOPED FIGHTER AIRCRAFT , EXCEPT RUSSIA, USA, UK, E.U. . FOR EXMAPLE BRAZILIAN EMBREAR IS A BIG COMANY IN AIRCRAFT BUT NONE OF THEIR ENGINE IS USED IN THEIR OWN AIRCRAFT
INDIA WILL NOW JOIN THIS GROUP OE U.S. , UK, RUSSIA E.U.

If you notice the exhaust, you will see that the combustion is not really uniform and with an increase in the fuel and speed of the engine, there are noticeable jumps in the combustion and exhaust gasses. Also, the expanding nozzle aperture is really interesting to see.
Why don't they collaborate with NPO Saturn to help them smoothen out the kinks ? Why do we need to only get the French or Americans to help ??
when we will see an indian engine on LCA….if kaveri engine is so good…why there is no kaveri engine in that fighter….?? from the video it just looked not so impressive…the engine flow was not smooth…just looked like fizzle….
Dear Shiv, I am fan of your blog and your reporting, you are the only one who keeps the heat on the right projects like the Kaveri. The Kaveri is the most important DRDO project towards self reliance be it the Naval gas turbine engines, LCA, ALH-LCH, RTA, commerical jets, UAVs, cruise missiles, Tank engines, turbo props or simply to power our entire countries future the Kaveri is the key. So i hope you understand the signifiance of this and keep the heat on GTRE and HAL to shows us its short comings and may be you can high light why that happens.
Please cover more of it and the naval turbine in Vishakapattinam as well.
Awesome

Loving it !
wow man…I hope this will get inducted soon in its final configuration….
good that it dint explode!! looks like .not aircraft ready!!
It's not steady burning, flickering all the time.
Wow! The flame got stronger and stronger towards the end. What were they doing, ramping up the fuel flow?

What good is it if it never see's the light of the day.
@ Shiv
there is some wire hanging on the side. Is it a lose connection?
How Indian is this and is this ever going to be used on the LCA Tejas or anywhere else?

Wasn't Kaveri shelved after it failed the tests in Russia.

Why the flame is flickering during overall course? Is it an engine problem? Another reason for Kaveri disapproval?
At last something positive and extraordinary has been achieved out of it.
