India’s Nirbhay subsonic medium range cruise missile (MRCM) was supposed to have been visible this year at Aero India. Unfortunately it isn’t. However, the programme is finally all set for its first test flight early next year. I asked DRDO chief VK Saraswat about the programme. He said, “The missile is under integration. All systems, subsystems, software for guidance and control etc are ready.”
On the little-known high supersonic long-range cruise missile (LRCM – image above) revealed first here on Livefist, Dr Saraswat said a first flight of India’s scramjet-powered hypersonic test demonstration platform would be tested at an altitude of 30-km and speed of 7 Mach early next year.
Thanks for the updates. Any info on AURA?
wow hypersonic cruise missile Mach 7
Americans will banging heads together when it comes out they are just designing supersonic cruise missile now.
With this Mach-7 hypersonic cruise missiles, the chinopaki will be blasted first and then their stunned ghosts will receive the warning signals.
wat is the estimated range of nirbhay and the hypersonic missile
@Mr.Ra: And then China´s mobile IRBMs and ICBMs will be launched, incinerating most Indian cities and military industrial complexes. Please consider the ramifications of the fulfillment of your war-mongering desires.
Operational range oh nirbhay will be 1,000 km. I don't know about range of brahmos2, I think they will not increase the range brahmos2 much because Russia is insisting on keeping it shortrange, most penetrating cruise missile in world. Just imagine mach 7 speed. so much kinetic energy will penetrate any bunker in world and also the amount of explosive to be used to create a devastating explosion can be reduced.
they shud increase the range of nirbhay to atleast 1500-2000km
An LRMC at Mach 7!!! WOW, man that would make anybody think twice before meddelling in Indian affairs in an intrusive manner – doesn't matter who it is. If it is on a mobile platform, realise that in war it can be carried to the enemy's doorsteps for devastating effect. I wonder what it's range would be (it can't be the Brahmos as Saraswat is developing it). This will be great news when the missile is test fired.

Not bcoz Russians would like to keep it short ranged but bcoz the international norms/regulations keep the upper limit of range of any traded/JV cruise missiles at >300kms
When will these be tested anyway? I think a lot of JVs and projects are running simultaneously (therefore draining resources) that result in delayed induction in the Armed Forces. Please correct me if I am wrong.
