IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Norman Browne today said there would a year’s delay in final operational clearance of the LCA Tejas to December 2013. He didn’t attribute any reasons to this. Am trying to get details.

Tejas is the first 4th gen fighter India developing so delays not a repainted chinese junk.
Hopefully the delay in FOC of Tejas-I may not lead to delay in FOC of Tejas-II.
Guys don't be dis-heartened. This is the LCA, it is more advanced than the JF-17, it is made of the latest material, JF-17 is mainly metal, though they are increasing the composite content. Also remember LCA has components from many different suppliers around the world, JF-17 only has pak and chinese parts, this makes integration harder. The paks are making JF-17 Blk II to counter LCA Mk1. LCA is indian and when have indian ever delivered anything on time? so stop crying, its not as if there is going to be a war tomorrow?

The REAL reason for the angst and frustration at the LCA is that EVEN without a SINGLE LCA inducted the IAF, even at present strength,packs enough punch for Pakistan.
Unlike the 'what pak can afford JF-17 the LCA is not the lifeline of the IAF .The pakis are most envious that we have an LCA effort going on while at the same time acquire many many more Sukhoi 30s now in super mode,Naval Mig -29s,a typhoon or a Rafale and the FGFA .Truly a formidable lineup.

BTW Mr. Anonymous @12:30 pm our present strength is depleting in terms of aircaft when we start comparing to PAF.
Once we enjoy a healthy rate over Pakis now we are equalling with them.

The only thing frustrate me is the delay from DRDO and because of that our Armed Forces has to suffer.
DRDO is not a worthwhile organization.
The timeline was 2012 for FOC and is unchanged!! This is FOC, not IOC! The aircraft has demonstrated everything – firing of weapons (including laser guided munitiions), litening pod integration etc. It is ready to take enemies apart!! Relax brothers and watch the pants of our enemies turn BROWN!!
Anon 4:08,Paki fantasies !!!!!The only depletion India has had is in Mig-21s.Forget the new inductions,every other aircraft in IAF either has upgraded or is in process.The Jags,The Mig-27s,the Mirages,the Mig-29s.Our transport fleets are also getting modernized and fresh aircraft being inducted.AWACs,re-fuellers,sigint,electronoc warfare,communications all are geetting modernised.Our night flying capabilities have vastly improved.Our helicopter fleet is getting transformed. Numerical strength is quality on its own,agreed,BUT there is no doubt that the IAF vis a vis Pakistan airforce is for the FIRST time leading them technology wise also.REMEBER PAF had big daddy USA always with it right from the 50s.What does the PAH have apart from JF-17 and F-16 at the moment and HOW MANY???Or as ever paki thinks ,as in 1965 the paki shot '6' of our aircraft within a minute,maybe now they are confident enough to shoot down the entire Indian air-force in 6 minutes.DO tell what apart from US and Chinese handouts is the PAF airforce path to growth!I hope you are aware that the entire Jf-17 line is on credit from China!!Pakis are banking on the suprer duper J-10 charity next!!!!
What i am looking forward to is inauguration of LCA tejas assembly line. Let the IAF keep dragging their feet on any indigenous military product.
