The Tata Group’s strategic electronics division (Tata Power SED) revealed today its truck-mounted 155mm howitzer gun, a weapon system that will bid for an Indian Army requirement for 814 mounted gun systems. These photo, the first of the new gun, are courtesy my network colleague Sandeep Unnithan, senior editor at INDIA TODAY magazine.
is it the denel gun one??or completely indigenous
Please provide the specification for the guns.
TATA trucks still need protective crew cabin as this one is pure vanilla trucks without Armour and bullet proof windows
Some reports (I read one on NDTV) mentioned that the system is based on a TATA truck. Can you confirm if this truck is Tata or Tatra?
Thanks!
Deputy Editor, not Senior. 🙂
if you compare the gun of both pictures…you will find every specification is same…..it means TATA has only provided the platform for gun…….not the gun.
Mayuresh Gaikwad ji, obviously its Tata. Can't you recognise the truck in the pic?
is it the same howitzer that was mounted on TATRA truck? I have some doubt on this project that whether it is indigenous or built with foreign partners.
@Mayuresh Gaikwad : its TATA
@Sarab aka Mirza : i was thinking it a artillery gun !!
plz no more tender, roi, loi & no more time waste. just go for it.
As per what I can see the gun is based on the TATA vehicle.Tata Motors has introduced an all-new MBVP (Micro Bullet-Proof Vehicle) at the current DEFEXPO India 2012 at Pragati Maidan and it seems to be that truck. The gun looks very much like the Caesar truck-mounted artillery system which is a 155mm 52-calibre self-propelled gun developed by Nexter.
Anyways, the looks of the truck are good compared to other systems developed in India
Any imported guns will given 70-75% test capacity is "ok" for army . When it's indigenous Gun, it will be torn apart and will tell them to meet 101% test requirement. Let see if the Gun pass the test? Let see Guns barrel pass the Indian standend test? they are going to cry for every bolt now..
Very good attempt. Now it has to be seen that how much it weights against Caesar.
Do we have any link/URL where we can find the specs of the gun ? Also, is the gun capable of Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) ?
The same gun is mounted on BHIM which has MRSI capability along with many other features:

seems… 2nd pic… south african plains???…
Take the Denel artillery system, put it on a Tata truck and call that an indigenous MGS! Lol
Btw, Denel is not supposed to be blacklisted here?
So, if this is the same gun as the one mounted on BHIM, then it is basically the DENEL gun – DENEL was blacklisted as so BHIM could not take off. So basically, the GUN was developed by the Public sector and given to the private sector to sell. Also, if the rate of fire is 6 shots in 3 minutes MRSI seems a bit difficult. hey shiv, what's the latest news on indian lhd…?
That is a Denel T5-52 mounted on a Tata chassis. There is nothing indigenous about it.

What else can you expect from the Country which believes in over a million gods.
how much loudly this gun can fart? 200dB? not less and not more.. The gas should smell vodka!!!! TATAs, beware..you may be rejected if you do bot meet the above QR specs!!!forget about the range,shoot and scoot all that halla gulla!!!
50% is indigenous. i.e the TATA truck 🙂
Gun is from DENEL.
Second pic is showing the same DENEL gun mounted on TATRA truck.
funny comments by annoy. because they fear from India.
is shiv want to say anything on it?
Had to be TATA……..great going…..what calibre is it…..appears to be 45
To anon@11:36AM:330 million(33 crores) to be precise. Because we see divinity in everything. Because we accept everyone's god as part of the almighty Supreme Being which we call "OM". We refuse to be narrow minded vandals who profiteer and play politics in the name of God.
The elephant legs should have be in the rear and the Gun shifted into the centre of the vehicle
Looking in to overall situations, it may be for the exports.
better than beliving in a womanizer…
To anon @12:22 PM: Dirty minds imagine filthy things. Pure divine love without sex cannot be undurstood by animals and barbarians who abduct and molest women. Its a higher level of thinking of civilised ppl. Ur bloodline doesnt seem to pocess this thought process
This gun system is junk. BAE Archer can shoot shoot five times as fast as this gun, with just 2 crew still sitting inside the truck.
Yes this is TATA truck chassis, as I heard and the gun is from Denel, the south african who is blacklisted by Indian government in bribery scandal. Anyhow this is under Indian name now, so hopefully all should go well.
@10:53 PM…
HAHAHAHAHA… HAHAHAAH… HAHAHAHA…
@10:53 PM your father is native isn't it and your blood line foreign?
To Anon @4:45 PM: wrestle with pigs u get dirty and the pig loves it…..enjoy ur muck filled world
@9:19 PM, all arround you if something is smelly, you don't do nothing about it for a 1K years, then there is something seriously wrong about you and your past.
@12:22 PM: If u dont like Indian culture than u need to check on what happened to women in your family
@4:28 PM…
indian culture dosen't… keep checking women in family… have full faith in… mothers… sisters… and daughters… hahahaha…
Good effort. Go for it. Even if it is made in collaboration with Denel, so what? we need our private defence manufacturing industry to come up and is there really a requirement of trying to remake the wheel?
@to all criticizers please do a proper survey before posting comments. The whole artillery is collaboratively made with denel, go to below link for confirmation:

It is surprising that most of the comments are doubting this indegenous product in the field where only foreigners are considered to be capable of producing such guns. It is difficult to understand why such hue and cry when an indian co. attempts and offers our armed forces (that too without any proor commitment from the Govt.)a product of stretegic importance. Instead of being proud of the Indian co. only concern seems to be that this will not work or it is a Public sector product given to this co. or whatever . Even if it 45% imported why is it not welcome and being encouraged. Don't we have faith in our own people. Wonder when we will be proud of our own efforts.
